Advance Q & A

Q:
What differentiates the Hypoguard Advance from other meters already on the market?
A:
Every person who needs to monitor his/her blood glucose has individual preferences. That is why there are many options in the market. The Hypoguard Advance is the perfect
solution for all who want a system that offers ease-of-use, convenience, and accuracy at an affordable price. In addition, the Hypoguard Advance is the only blood glucose meter that comes in a hard carry case
for ultimate protection while the user is on the go. Testing can be performed while leaving the meter in the convenient case.

Q:
Is the Hypoguard Advance Blood Glucose Meter whole blood or plasma referenced?
A:
Advance is plasma referenced.
Q:
What is the difference between whole blood and plasma referenced results?
A:
While all blood glucose meters use whole blood to measure glucose, lab equipment uses only the plasma portion of blood. Some meters display blood glucose results as a plasma
measurement to make it easier to compare with lab results. Neither a whole blood measurement or a plasma measurement is more accurate than the other; they are just different methods of measuring the same thing.
But because of the difference in sample types, you should understand that plasma referenced test results are about 12 percent higher than whole blood test results.

Q:
How does the 24 hour military clock work?
A:
The 24 hour clock is identical to the 12 hour clock that we use in North America for the first 12 hours of the day. From 1:00pm you can see a difference in format. Instead of
starting at 1:00 and counting from 1:00pm to 12:00pm again, the 24 hour clock continues counting the hours of the day up to 24 hours.
E.g.: 12:00am is the same 12:00 in both formats. Then the 24 hour
clock counts 13:00, 14:00, 15:00 and so on. The 12 hour clock starts counting from 1:00 and adding pm: 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm. For the second half of the day, you add 12 to the 12 hour clock (from 1:00pm
through 12:00pm) and 1:00am through 12:00am stay the same. (See further explanation in user manual, page 10.)
